Debut release from Ottawa's Aron The Alien. A man who moves in his way at his own pace.

Who are you?
I am Aron the Alien, a rapper and resident of Ottawa, ON. 


How long have you been involved in music?

My parents put me onto piano lessons when I was 6, that lasted about 2 years then  i picked up the guitar when I was around 9 or 10 but I had already taken an interest in writing songs. I would write songs without any music or proper structure. I would just try and write a hook then write a verse to the hook but it wouldn’t be counted through bars or anything. I low key just wanted to be Kurt Cobain. Music’s been apart of me for a great portion of my life.


What are you trying to accomplish through music?

Just to create some dope shit mainly. I don’t really have any like wild plans about music. I just want to make music because I enjoy doing it and it’s what my heart lies with. If i can get rich off of this shit, that’s tight but I rather live my life broke and happy doing something i love than rich and miserable doing something I hate. As cliche as that sounds. Music has really just been the only thing I feel comfortable doing and honestly, I can’t see myself doing anything else with my life.


Why did you choose Hip Hop?

I tried avoiding it my whole life. it was more or less deemed as the devils music in my household as a child, which probably made me like it when i started growing up. I would spend a lot of time with my cousins in the summer in Montreal or they would come to ottawa and my older cousin would play a lot of Tupac, Biggie, Bone thugs, Lil wayne (carter ii era) and then I got into Gym Class Heroes, Rage against the machine, POS and Atmosphere as well as old Snoop shit, NWA and a lot of old gangsta rap. That definitely moulded the lane and the sound that I was aiming for. 
Sidenote: I was born 20 years after the first Hip Hop block party held by Kool Herc so I feel it was almost destiny to get into hip hop.


What else do you like to do?

I honestly really just enjoy music, whether I’m listening to it or making it. I’m a pretty boring person. I like hanging out with my cat a lot. that’s probably my favourite past time. Pretty much what any normal 20 year old would be into. Having fun and shit. And oh ya… taking Journalism in Toronto this Fall.


Why do you hate answering all these questions?

These questions are difficult to answer and I feel that I’m in a deposition right now. You aren’t with the feds, are you?
